Free K-12 webinars in October 2026

Updated October 1, 2026 · 205 sessions

October is the densest month of the fall PD calendar, and a striking share of it costs nothing. Nonprofits, state agencies, universities, and education companies all run free sessions this month — partly because it is Cybersecurity Awareness Month and the run-up to several literacy initiatives, and partly because October is simply when educators have settled enough into the year to know what help they need.

This page collects every free session on our October calendar, across topics: science of reading and literacy instruction, AI policy and classroom practice, math pedagogy, student wellbeing, school leadership, and more. Free does not mean lightweight here — several of these are led by researchers and state-level specialists, and most offer certificates of attendance for PD hours.

A word of strategy: free webinars are easy to register for and easy to skip, so treat registration as a commitment. Pick two or three that map to a goal your team actually set this year, put them in the shared calendar, and plan to discuss them afterward. One attended session with a follow-up conversation beats six registrations that become calendar decorations.

There are 196 upcoming webinars in this roundup for K-12 educators as of October 1, 2026. 196 are free to everyone, and 24 offer a certificate or CE credit. The next one is "Civics as a Compass in 1930s Germany" from National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) on October 1, 2026.

LSGurdin Consulting BCBA Series: Beyond the Behavior Plan - The ADHD Interventions Behavior Analysts Overlook

Fri, October 2, 2026 · 12:00 PM EDT · Massachusetts Partnerships for Youth · Free

Behavioral interventions for ADHD symptoms emphasize functional alternatives to maladaptive behaviors, guided by reinforcement principles and behavioral function. Contemporary evidence indicates ADHD is fundamentally a disorder of performance - the inconsistent application of intact skills - rather than a deficit of motivation or skill acquisition, and is closely associated with executive function impairments such as regulating attention and sustaining task engagement. This session shows how ABA practitioners can strengthen outcomes by scaffolding executive function alongside traditional function-based approaches, emphasizing the interplay of antecedents, behaviors and consequences. Offered in partnership with LSGurdin Consulting; BCBAs are eligible for CEs through LSGurdin Consulting.

A Tale of Two Fields: A Complex Dynamic Systems Perspective on Generative AI in Language Teaching

    Sat, October 3, 2026 · 9:00 AM EDT · TESOL International Association · Free

A free webinar from TESOL's Computer-Assisted Language Learning Interest Section (CALL-IS). Language teachers and teacher educators increasingly face consequential decisions about generative AI — what to adopt, permit, and convey to students — often without understanding how these systems operate. This session examines prediction, embeddings, and attention as they relate to observed model behavior and considers why language teaching has a distinctive stake in these technologies. Drawing on complex dynamic systems theory, it explores the challenges generic technologies face in accommodating the complexity of language, demonstrates the live, no-code development of small applications designed for a specific lesson and group of learners, and examines systematic errors in AI pronunciation assessment, arguing for interdisciplinary collaboration between applied linguistics and computer science.

How We Broke Reading Comprehension — and How We Can Fix It

    Sat, October 31, 2026 · 10:00 AM EDT · Learning & the Brain · Free

In this session, we examine a research-based definition of comprehension and how many schools inadvertently shifted away from instruction that develops it. Most importantly, we focus on what educators can do instead: practical, evidence-informed approaches rooted in the science of comprehension and tested in classrooms. Participants will leave with a framework for analyzing comprehension challenges, along with concrete strategies and resources they can use immediately. Applicable to teachers K-12, with particular emphasis on grades 5+, instructional leaders, literacy coaches and administrators.
