What Works: Oral Language Tools for the Science of Reading
Oral language predicts reading success, but not every classroom tool builds it. Participants examine what Science of Reading research says about oral language development, then evaluate free, evidence-based tools, including several AI tools, against that research rather than novelty. You will leave with one designed activity and a clear rationale for why it works. As a result of this session, teachers will: explain the research connecting oral language development to reading success; evaluate free tools for oral language instruction against evidence-based criteria; and design an oral language activity using a selected tool that targets a specific reading skill. Fully participate to earn a certificate of completion; educators in Texas, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Montana can receive continuing education credit through state-approved partnerships.

Grow with AI: Building Your Personal or Professional Learning Plan
Most conversations about AI in education focus on saving time grading faster or planning quicker. This session flips that lens: participants use AI as a thinking partner for their own growth, setting goals, reflecting on practice, and building a professional learning plan grounded in research, not hype. Along the way, they practice the same healthy AI habits worth modeling for students. No AI experience needed — just curiosity. As a result of this session, teachers will: apply AI tools to support a personal or professional goal-setting and reflection process; evaluate AI habits and practices worth modeling for students; and design a personal professional learning plan that incorporates at least one AI-supported strategy. Fully participate to earn a certificate of completion.

Digital Detectives: Critical Thinking in an AI World
AI-generated content is everywhere, and it is often convincing. Students need more than "don't trust everything you read" to navigate it. This session builds real critical-thinking habits grounded in research, not reflexive skepticism, and gives you a structured fact-checking process to teach directly. Leave with classroom-ready strategies and language for talking with students about AI-generated misinformation. As a result of this session, teachers will: explain the research-based distinction between critical thinking and blanket skepticism; apply a structured fact-checking process to evaluate AI-generated content; and design a classroom conversation or activity that teaches students to fact-check AI-generated content independently. Fully participate to earn a certificate of completion.

Show What They Know: Authentic ELA Assessment Strategies
A five-paragraph essay can tell you a student finished the reading. It can't always tell you they connected with it. This session explores project-based assessment for ELA, grounded in research on what actually deepens the bond between students, texts, and the world around them. You will learn how thoughtfully chosen tools, AI included, can support that work without doing the thinking for students. As a result of this session, teachers will: explain the research connecting project-based assessment to deeper student understanding in ELA; evaluate AI and other digital tools for their fit in supporting (not replacing) project-based ELA assessment design; and design a project-based assessment for an ELA unit. Fully participate to earn a certificate of completion.

Choose It, Use It, Improve It: A Practical Approach to Choosing (and Using) Edtech Well
Most classroom technology decisions happen at the lesson or unit level — trying a colleague's recommendation for one assignment, swapping in a new tool for a student project. Teachers already ask good questions before trying something new; this session builds on that instinct with a simple, repeatable process: choose it, use it, improve it. Participants work through real classroom scenarios using a short set of guiding questions for each stage — choosing a tool for a lesson, using it, and deciding afterward what to keep, adjust, or drop. It is not a checklist to memorize — it is a process that fits naturally into decisions you are already making to enhance student learning. Fully participate to earn a certificate of completion.

Books, Builds, and Big Ideas: Designing STEAM Learning from Picture Books
Picture books can spark more than a good story; they can launch real STEAM exploration. This session pairs inclusive picture books with hands-on builds and design challenges, giving every student an entry point into STEM concepts through story. Explore practical, low-cost strategies you can adapt for any grade level. No STEAM background required. Fully participate to earn a certificate of completion.
