Connect and talk with colleagues about starting the new academic year with a focus on student media literacy skills for civic engagement. As the summer ends, we continue to navigate a chaotic media ecosystem while creating meaningful opportunities for students to learn to do the same. Discussion topics include: how we are navigating the current media ecosystem and where we get the news; what we know about students and their news consumption and attitudes; how we are approaching media literacy in the classroom to start the year; and what steps and collaborations might be useful for you and the community. Free, online via Zoom. Hosted by the Media Literacy Collaborative, a collaboration between the UC Irvine Teacher Academy and The History & Civics Project at UC Santa Cruz.
