Stress and trauma can affect how immigrant children and youth learn, connect and participate in school. Supporting students through these experiences can also take a toll on teachers and school staff. In this webinar, El Futuro, an organization that provides mental health services to the Latino community in North Carolina, will introduce the Community Resilience Model, a practical, skills-based approach for understanding the impact of stress and trauma and how to build resilience. Participants will learn strategies for supporting their own well-being while helping immigrant students manage stress and regain a sense of balance. They will also learn practical tools that can be incorporated into their everyday interactions with students, helping create learning environments where students feel supported and better able to thrive.
