Building Your AP Program Webinar Series: Start with One, Reach More Students
Deciding which AP courses to offer, and where they fit best, is one of the most consequential choices a school or district makes for student access. The Building Your AP Program Webinar Series is designed to support that work, introducing the new AP® Course Sets as a practical way to match AP courses to the priorities you are already pursuing, whether that is expanding access with a first AP course, adding a nationally recognized AP signal to your honors courses, or bringing college-level AP courses into your CTE pathways. Each session gives those who shape course offerings, from district leaders and content specialists to school leaders and AP coordinators, a clear starting point for building a program that reflects local goals. This session, Start with One, begins where many students do, ready for advanced coursework long before they ever raise their hand for it. We will show how a single, well-placed AP course in 9th or 10th grade can turn that readiness into real participation, why a late, stacked AP model quietly limits access, and how one high-interest course with few or no prerequisites (think AP Human Geography, AP Seminar, or AP Spanish Language and Culture) creates a practical on-ramp to rigor. You will leave with strategies to build your AP program focused on expanding access, including how to choose that first course and offer it early, often by replacing an existing course rather than rebuilding your whole schedule, so more students can start building momentum toward your school's college readiness goals. 2026-2027 Advanced Placement in California
This session covers AP® program strategy and updates — not exam administration or ordering operations. A practical look at how Advanced Placement® fits into your school's goals for 2026 and beyond. We'll walk through the seven ways AP® can support different school priorities — from starting with one accessible course to building STEM, CTE, arts, and world language pathways, and preparing students earlier through Pre-AP® — along with the core benefits AP® offers students: saving time and money, standing out to colleges, keeping options open, and earning college credit or placement. The session also covers how AP® coursework connects to California-specific requirements educators are already tracking: how AP® courses satisfy UC/CSU A-G subject-area requirements, and how AP® exam performance factors into the College/Career Indicator on the California School Dashboard. We'll review state AP® trends from the 2026 exam administration, and discuss newer AP® course offerings — including AP® Business with Personal Finance, AP® Cybersecurity, and AP® Networking (arriving 2027-28) — and where they fit into a school's broader course-offering strategy. Walk away with: a framework for matching AP® course decisions to school priorities and California accountability metrics, this year's state participation and performance trends, and a look at what's new in the course lineup. Building Your AP Program Webinar Series: Make Honors Count, Earn Recognition Colleges Trust
This session, Make Honors Count, begins with the rigorous work already happening in your classrooms, where students take demanding honors courses that colleges cannot always see. We will show how converting select honors courses to AP makes that rigor visible through a nationally recognized signal, why an AP course is often easier for colleges to interpret than honors alone, and how the shift strengthens the academic record students present in admissions. You will leave with strategies to build your AP program focused on recognition, including how to identify which honors courses are the strongest candidates to convert, so more students stand out for the advanced work they are already doing. By participating in this event, you consent to being recorded and you agree that College Board may publish the recording on College Board’s website and share the recording with those who register for this event.
