K-12 Cybersecurity Foundations: A Practical Framework for Implementing Fundamental Cyber Controls
K-12 districts face persistent and evolving cyber threats that can disrupt learning, compromise school operations, and expose sensitive student data. In this session, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency's (CISA) School Safety Task Force introduces its recently released K-12 Cybersecurity Foundations Resource Package, a comprehensive collection of guides, videos, and supplemental materials to help K-12 districts prevent and mitigate the most prevalent cyber threats. Attendees will walk through the eight cybersecurity objectives covered in the resources and discover customizable actions that all districts can take to build and maintain effective cybersecurity programs. Takeaways include a roadmap for meaningful cybersecurity progress aligned with district resources and needs, an understanding of how CISA frames cybersecurity as a key element of school safety and resilience, and cost-effective, practical steps backed by recognized cybersecurity frameworks. In partnership with CISA.
