Teaching Migration with Simulations, Stories, and Data

How can we teach migration in a meaningful, informative, and respectful way? In this free teacher webinar, we will examine the economic, political, and social factors that drive migration and explore how migration shapes populations. The webinar is interactive. All participating teachers will: explore engaging classroom simulations on push and pull factors; learn how to use personal migration stories to highlight regional and global migration themes; and try out a mapping activity that uses historic data to investigate population density and migration patterns in the U.S. Geared towards social studies teachers in grades 6-12 and an especially great fit for APHG teachers. Register today, and get ready to receive resources and lessons that will help students understand the forces driving migration and the demographic shifts it creates over time.
