Social-Emotional & Behavioral MTSS: Building a Trauma-Informed System of Support
If it feels like your school is constantly reacting to behavior instead of preventing it, you're not alone, and there's a better way forward. Strategies alone don't transform schools; effective systems do. A strong social-emotional and behavioral MTSS creates the conditions where students feel safe, connected, and ready to learn, and where educators feel equipped, not overwhelmed. Participants will learn how to build a coherent, schoolwide system of support that is proactive, practical, and trauma-informed, grounded in what we know about adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and the mindset shift of behavior as communication. Attend live in person at NIU Naperville, live online, or on demand for 30 days. Fees: PD365 members $269; non-members $359 (includes one year of membership); students/retirees $99. Virtual attendance requires a minimum of 10 total attendees. The published schedule does not state a time zone; the displayed time assumes Central Time.

What Your Phone Policy Cannot Do: The Friction Audit
Senate Bill 2427 requires Illinois districts to manage student devices, but restricting phones alone does not ensure engagement or learning. Standard device bans often overlook how 1:1 tech and AI enable work shortcuts, or create new barriers for students needing accommodations. This workshop uses Micah Miner's pedagogical friction framework to help district teams design effective policies. Participants will evaluate phone storage, enforcement, equity, family communication, and AI integration to strengthen decision-making whether adopting or updating device rules. Live online and on demand (recorded). Fees: members $179; non-members $228 (includes one year of membership); 2 people $218 each; 3 people $208 each; students/retirees $99.

Custom Chatbots and Revised Assessments: Integrating AI Without Students Taking Cognitive Shortcuts
Classroom teachers have seen how AI can save them time, help differentiate curriculum, and offer just-in-time support for students. Yet this technology also allows students to take cognitive shortcuts through the curriculum that educators have spent years carefully creating. Arpan Chokshi, a classroom teacher and instructional coach at Hinsdale District 86, shares practical strategies for designing teacher-facing and student-facing chatbots, revising assessments so students do the cognitive heavy lifting, training students to evaluate AI output, and writing a clear course AI-use policy. Live online or on demand (recorded for 30 days). Fees: PD365 members $199; non-members $248 (includes one year of membership); 2 people $238 each; 3 people $228 each; students/retirees $99.
